ABI backs Jackson's proposals

The Association of British Insurers has called for the findings of Lord Justice Jackson’s review of civil litigation costs to be implemented in full, as soon as possible.
The ABI’s assistant director of motor and liability James Dalton has called for Lord Justice Jackson’s recommendations to be implemented as soon as possible at a conference, The Changing Face of Personal Injury Claims, in Leeds organised by the North East regional group of insurance institutes.
A spokesman for the ABI told Post that body has reviewed the proposals in full and said: “Now that we have, we want to see full implementation. We believe that this would improve access to faster and fair justice and not, as some in the claimant lobby argue, hinder access to justice.”
He added: “This is a way of killing two birds with one stone, improve the compensation system for genuine claims and manage legal costs so that we can in turn manage the rising cost of personal injury claims.”
