Legal aid for op blunders could go

20/08/2010

Victims of operation blunders will no longer receive financial help to sue the NHS, the Daily Mail reports.

It is all part of a cost-cutting plan by the Justice Ministry, which is having to axe 25 per cent from it’s £9m annual budget.

Under the plans, the department will look to make savings on medical negligence, which has cost the ministry £82m over the past three years.

More is spent on legal aid in England and Wales than nearly anywhere else worldwide, with the budget soaring by £500million since 1997.
